Professional Tyre Changer Machines & Fitting Equipment.

Famous brand names such as Hofmann Megaplan, Wurth, Tecalemit and Bosch have all enjoyed tyre changers manufactured for them under licence – in fact, if you own a tyre changer, there is a very high chance you may already have used a Giuliano and not even realised it!

Choosing the right tyre machine can be a minefield. As a customer, you are presented with literally hundreds of models, most of which look the same to the untrained eye, many of which could be the same with a simple rebrand, but conversely, the differences in performance, quality, reliability and support can be miles apart!

Why Choose Giuliano Tyre Changers?

At Giuliano Automotive, tyre changers are in our DNA. Most of the team have worked around these products for their entire working lives, whether starting out as a tyre fitter or coming into the industry at a manufacturing level, we have all ended up where we are because we literally live and breathe the product.

A few good reasons to choose Giuliano tyre changers for your workshop:

  • 100% Italian Design
  • 2-Year Warranty
  • Next Day Parts Support

We consider ourselves to be unique in terms of what we offer. For example, the machines are designed in Italym but all of our machines sold in the UK are assembled right here in the UK, tested and put through a thorough Pre-Delivery Inspection, and then delivered by the same team on our own transport. Training and ensuring correct use, and that you get the best from your purchase is key to what we do. We don’t just bolt it down and walk away (in fact, many garage equipment suppliers won’t even bolt it down!), we take the time to discuss the best position, provide comprehensive training from tyre equipment specialists, and want our customers to be delighted with their new tyre machine and the whole experience. It is not uncommon for us to have to train teams of 10 or more in a dealership environment, or be presented with the challenge of a ‘scary’ tyre and rim combination by a tyre shop for the training. The fact is, we are experts, and unrivalled experts when it comes to this very specialist subject of tyre changing machines.

It is easy to assume ‘a tyre changer is a tyre changer’, but nothing could be further from the truth. It is also easy to think that companies who supply these tyre machines all know what they are doing, but again, nothing could be further from the truth. In a day and age when so many products are manufactured in China and average prices are probably lower than they were in the '90s, it would be easy to think there is no place for a ‘premium’ tyre-changing product. That, however, is why we exist. Most professional businesses in the tyre industry still recognise that you get what you pay for, and one damaged rim or ripped bead can make what was a cheap tyre changer look very, very expensive!

Manufacturing Tyre Fitting Machines Since 1976

But it isn’t just about us here in the UK. Since 1976, Giuliano have been manufacturing tyre changers in the famous ‘Motor Valley’ in Italy, and have firmly established themselves as producers of some of the best-loved tyre machines in the world, certainly no. 1 for tyre fitting machines in the UK!

Far too many ‘industry firsts’ to mention have ensured the Giuliano name, and all of the other prestigious names they have produced for over the decades, remain at the very forefront of innovation and solutions to tyre fitting and removal problems.

To this day, Giuliano Automotive is still a family business. After 50 years, and considering the last couple of decades have seen the original area for tyre changer manufacturing in Italy transformed by closures or corporate buy-outs of many of the original manufacturers, this really is some achievement. Not only is the fact that they remain today as a thriving, independent manufacturer something to be incredibly proud of, but the additional fact that they invested in their own operations in the UK market to support the customer just adds to the kudos.

There is no doubt, with Giuliano and Balco tyre changers, you are in safe hands. Whether you are looking for something entry-level to meet a budget, or high-performance for the most demanding circumstances, we will have a product to suit you and your pocket.

Common Questions About Tyre Changers

In case you didn’t already take a look, we’d highly recommend our feature around ‘Choosing The Right Tyre Changer’ which contains some ‘real life’ questions that we know from experience are what customers really need to know. Additionally, if you want a more ‘laymans’ guide before moving onto the more technical FAQs, we have compiled some generic questions and answers below:

Frequently Asked Questions

Well, in theory, all tyre changers should be for professional use. However, there are often situations where somebody is looking for a budget tyre machine. This is ok if the application is genuinely for home use, or maybe occasional trackside, but in general, a tyre changer needs to be well built simply because of the work it is being asked to do.

Again, because in most circumstances tyre machines are purchased by businesses looking to change tyres commercially, they have to be built with hard work, volume and safety in mind. There is an abundance of tyre changers that can be found online, and they may be 5 times cheaper than a well-known brand like Giuliano. But as the old saying goes, if it seems to good to be true, it probably is!

Semi-Automatic requires some manual operation in terms of setting the machine up, that is the operator manually positions the demount head into place, and then locks it manually. A fully-automatic will automatically set itself up ready to operate by pressing a button which controls pneumatics. Even with fully-automatic, the operator will have to use his hand to position the head before it is automatically locked into place. Super-automatic removes pretty much all of the manual intervention, with each movement in the setting up process carried out by button control operating pneumatic cylinders.

We certainly have distributors located all over the country, and we also have our own employees located nationally. So, certainly when dealing with Giuliano, you can expect local service. We don’t recommend purely online sellers with no bricks and mortar presence because it suggests there isn’t an infrastructure in place to support the product, or they may not actually be a stockist or true supplier.

Absolutely not. The majority of the market is covered by a conventional, traditional design tyre changer which would accommodate most of the car park. However, specialist applications such as run-flat tyres, extremely large alloy rims, motorcycle and commercial vehicles to name but a few are examples of where a specialist machine may be required. At Giuliano we can advise you of exactly the right model based on your own specific requirements.

Obviously we are somewhat biased, and so there are features we would probably suggest that others might not. However, if we look at the basics, then an assist arm is essential nowadays. With the tyres becoming much lower profile in recent years, this makes the process of fitting and removal much harder, and so an assist arm is needed to help the operator in order to avoid damage to the rim, tyre or, indeed, the user. Build quality is vitally important, but obviously difficult to assess. The best measure for this is to consider the warranty being given. If the warranty is generous, it means the supplier has faith in their product. Likewise, outside of the machine itself, it is best to make sure the supplier has national support.

Absolutely. If you are a business we can arrange for finance over any perios to suit you, but normally 3 or 5 years. This is a great way of having the income from tyre work pay for the machine as you go along, making it much more affordable to invest in the right product that will still be going in 5 years time.

This can be broken down into 2 categories. The first, is a generic problem around buying a machine which wasn’t up for the job. If you buy something so cheap that it is not well-made, you will have problems through breakages on the machine, or flexing under the strain of a tight tyre. This will prematurely wear you machine making the original purchase a false economy. There is no solution to this, it is just a purchasing mistake. The second is generally through lack of maintenance. If you buy any machine of reputable quality, keep it clean, check the oil lubricator is working and has oil, empty the water trap to stop water getting into the machine, check belt tension and various other routine maintenance tasks that we can advise on, your machine will run and unlikely fail at all.

Firstly, we are a manufacturer, having manufactured in Italy since 1976. Secondly, our UK operation is essentially a branch of the factory, but is run by a team who have been immersed in the business for 4 decades. Most of our competitors will import a machine in a bix from a supplier that may change frequently, and ship it out with no intervention in between. We assemble, test and deliver on our own transport by experienced tyre fitters who have become qualified in tyre changing machines. We cannot really be compared to anyone else in terms of the way we are very dedicated and passionate about what we do.
