When our factory first started producing tyre changers back in the ’70s, the classic ‘swing arm’ was very much the standard for the tyre industry. Then along came the ‘tilt-back’; a model that was faster to use, kinder to alloy rims, and generally stronger due to its design that replaced the vertical swivel pin with a horizontal pivot pin.

Fast forward a few decades and we are starting to see a repeat of this evolutionary process as more and more customers are moving towards the Par-Move design. Par-Move uses a fixed, cylindrical main column, eliminating altogether the pivot pin and tilting mechanism used in traditional tilt-back machines – and this is the first major improvement in rigidity and strength. Then, the automatic operation and performance of a tilt-back model is provided via the ‘Par-Move’ parallelogram design feature. This patented design allows the operator to position the demount head (which can be leverless or fitted with a traditional demount head) directly against the rim and, at the press of a button, the ‘head’ or removal finger moves up and away approximately 2mm, providing clearance from the rim. Extensive structural tests have proven that the Par-Move design is stringer and safer than any traditional tilt or swing arm machine. However, the benefits don’t end there. Due to the fixed column structure, the SX229 can be positioned up against the wall, eliminating the need for any room behind the machine. Anybody who remembers the parallelogram arm design of the ‘Butler’ machines of the ’90s may well harbour fond memories of its ease of use. Conversely, they might also have the odd costly scare due to its contact with the rim despite the use of a plastic demount tool. DualForce gives the user the option to use a rocker-pedal located in the traditional position when using the bead breaker, or a thumb button, giving full control of the shovel. The ‘toggle’ movement on both pedal and thumb control can be stopped and started at any position, unlike the traditional piston-type bead breaker which is forced to travel fully in and out. The Power X 4 cylinder turntable is widely accepted as being the most technically superior turntable in existence, using 4 cylinders as opposed to 2, and offering multiple benefits.
