Tyre Changers – What’s Next?

So, you’re a busy tyre shop who has always invested in good equipment. You appreciate the value in buying a quality product, and you embrace new technology provided it adds value in terms of capability and longevity.

The bias in ratio towards low profile tyres and ‘exotic’ alloy rims you see is increasing every year, and you need to ensure your next purchase prepares you for the future, so what tyre machine do you buy next?

This has to be a question that faces so many tyre shop owners and managers, and it is a question we love to have posed to us because we believe we have the ideal solution in the Giuliano SX229 Pro. Let us explain why…

The Giuliano SX229 Pro featuring Par-Move™ Technology

Par Move System for Tyre ChangersFirst and foremost, we know how human nature dictates that none of us really embrace change unless it is totally apparent why you’d adopt something new (hence the phrase ‘change for the sake of change’). A tyre changer, as we have learned over many years, is a very subjective topic, and one that sees familiarity as one of its most crucial assets. If you have owned a particular make, model or design for any length of time, you become familiar with its ‘feel’ and operation. You instantly know where the pedals are without looking, you know how fast the turret comes forward and at what point you need to grab the handle, and it is almost like that comfortable pair of slippers that no new pair at Christmas will quite live up to on first wear!

So when it comes to replacing a tyre machine, we know that one of the first things people look at, whether it is conscious or sub-conscious, is that familiarity factor, and this is one of the main considerations we made when designing what we feel is the ‘standard’ tyre changer of the future.

When we say ‘standard’ we don’t mean in any way basic, we mean a mainstay, a machine that establishes itself as a common sight in tyre shops because it earns a following. Essentially, it means something ‘in the middle’; not a budget product, and not a high-end machine that typically is not an all-rounder, but a workhorse that tyre shops start to consider an automatic choice through familiarity, performance and reliability. In the ’90s and 2000s we saw the Corghi 2019 take that crown, and in the 2010s it was the Hofmann Megaplan 701 and its subsequent derivatives that were to be seen in tyre shops up and down the country. So, what’s going to set the pace for the future? Well we firmly believe it will be the Giuliano SX229 Pro.

So having kept that same feel that tyre fitters have become accustomed to, we then set about making a machine that was stronger than anything in its class, and this resulted in the development of the ‘Par-Move’ (Parallelogram Movement) system.

Tyre Changers with Par MovePar-Move introduces a new means of operating the demount head that comes into contact with the rim (or not actually coming into contact being the real goal). Instead of a traditional arm that tilts back or swings to the side, Par-Move employees a parallelogram travel, which combines the space-saving benefit of a swing-arm, with the simple and speedy operation of a tilt-back, but offers a rigidity under the strain of a tight tyre that far exceeds both of those traditional designs.

There may be some reading this that remember the Butler design of the ’90s, which gained cult status within the tyre industry. The operation was smooth and ergonomic, and it was only the fact that the demount head dragged on the rim that really put paid to its popularity. Well Par-Move provides that same degree of user-friendliness, but this time without the risk to the rim, as the demount head is locked into position providing a clearance of approximately 2mm from the rim edge in an ‘up and away’ movement.

The technology includes no sliding parts, instead using an articulated movement using special joints which avoids mechanical play in either transverse, radial or vertical directions. A patented memory system ensures that the rim width and diameter is memorised and, consequently, a full set of rims can be dealt with, ensuring automatic repositioning by means of pedal control.

Backed up by a 5 year warranty, the Par-Move system is constructed for intensive use, and we are already seeing hundreds of businesses make this their ‘go-to’ style of machine.

But it doesn’t just end there. The SX229 Pro boasts a whole host of luxury features that set it apart from the rest, and earn its reputation as being the ‘best all-rounder’ by many leading authorities in tyre equipment.

Most notable after the Par-Move design, is the inclusion of the famous Power X turntable using 4 cylinders instead of the usual 2 cylinder designs. With a capable 27” clamping ability even from the outside of the rim, as allow rims should be gripped, Power X is well documented as offering increased power, better uniformity, ‘bomb-proof’ construction, and yet again a reassuring 5 year warranty.

Newly introduced for 2025, the SX229 Pro also now boasts the unique DualForce bead breaker system, which provides the operator with  the flexibility of being able to operate the ‘shovel’ either by hand or traditional foot-pedal. Unlike traditional bead breakers, which employee a pneumatic chamber to pull the ‘shovel’ or blade in to break the bead and then push it out again in one motion, the DualForce provides the operator with total control, including start / stop by releasing the pedal or ‘toggle’. Safer, faster and much nicer to use, the DualForce is a feature that, once someone has used it, there is no going back to the old-fashioned way.

Overall, the SX229 Pro is a genuine show-stopper; when it is demonstrated at exhibitions it is always the machine that attracts the crowd. Its unique ability to remain familiar in terms of its general design and operation, coupled with these unique features designed to make it far more suitable for the tyres and rims of the future, is what makes it a firm favourite with anyone who has invested in this machine.

The SX229 Pro can be seen at our showroom near Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. We have a wide variety of rims and tyres, but we even welcome you to bring any troublesome wheels along in order that we can demonstrate the capabilities and true value of a tyre machine like this.

Price-wise, the SX229 Pro is no more expensive than any other premium-quality machine from a reputable brand, and is accessible to even the most modest garage or tyre shop that takes tyres seriously.
